Temptation Island – April 26th

It’s a trap!

We’re all familiar with the effects of instant gratification and why it turns into a pattern in our lives. A lot of times we know what must be done includes a high amount of effort, patience and dedication, which is why, some of that time our of convenience or comfort, we choose to take the easy or immediate road.

Today’s message asks you to stop and think; ask yourself if going down the easiest road will indeed take you to where you want to go or if it’s actually slowing you down. Temptation is always around us, whether it’s in the form of binging a show instead of working, going on defense instead of taking accountability, taking a nap instead of working out, etc. Whatever it is, there will always be an easy way to go about things that seems more attractive because it makes us feel good in the moment.

While there’s nothing wrong with living in the present, we must not forget about our future goals. The steps we take in the present bring us closer or farther from them. Sometimes it takes a little extra courage and strength to push through and be ok with putting in that extra effort into something to see results.

If you’re being too lenient and permissive with yourself today, this is a reminder to call BS on your own self and do what you need to do without excuses or justification. Instant gratification feels great, sure. However, it can really become a trap, a mindless circle that will go on endlessly until you break the pattern. That circle can keep you in places you don’t want to be. Break free from those restrictions you have put on yourself and move forward.

Some of those restrictions can come from your shadow side too. Perhaps pessimism or feeling like you don’t have what it takes, you’re not strong or consistent enough, victimizing yourself. Those can be broken too! It’s a choice. Do I want to continue to get the same results or do I want an actual change? How am I holding myself back and what steps can I take to make changes? Is this choice going to give me the results I want in the long run?

Don’t impulsively fall for temptation today, you’ve got this. You’re stronger than you think you are.
